How is this calculated?

Daily water intake is calculated using a base formula adjusted for activity level, climate, and caffeine consumption.

Base formula:

Base (oz) = body weight (lbs) × 0.5

Activity multiplier:

Sedentary: ×1.0  |  Light: ×1.1  |  Moderate: ×1.2  |  Very Active: ×1.4  |  Extreme: ×1.6

Climate adjustment:

Cool / Temperate: +0 oz  |  Warm: +16 oz  |  Hot / Humid: +32 oz

Caffeine adjustment:

+8 oz per caffeinated drink (up to 4 drinks counted). Caffeine is a mild diuretic, so extra water helps offset fluid loss.

Total (oz) = (base × activity) + climate + (caffeine × 8)

For metric users, kilograms are converted to pounds internally (1 kg = 2.205 lbs) and results are displayed in both ounces and milliliters (1 oz = 29.5735 ml).
