Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple measure of body weight relative to height. Enter your height and weight below to calculate your BMI instantly and see which category you fall into.
How is BMI calculated?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in meters:
BMI = weight (kg) / height (m)²
For imperial units the formula is:
BMI = 703 × weight (lb) / height (in)²
BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnostic measure. It does not account for muscle mass, bone density, age, gender, or ethnicity. Athletes and highly muscular individuals may have a high BMI without excess body fat.
BMI Categories (WHO):
Underweight: < 18.5 | Normal: 18.5 – 24.9 | Overweight: 25 – 29.9 | Obese: 30+
